Ah, the prodigal. The middle child, if any of the Endless can be considered children, was the one to leave. He abandoned his realm and left the destruction to run its course without a master. He was the only of the Endless to realize that you can leave your post, and things will still go on without you. Destruction was the glue that held the family together, the sibling rivalries became much worse after he left. He made poor Despair more comfortable in her new position, he cheered up poor fractured Delirium and made everything ok when she ceased being Delight... For Destruction's Realm was the realm of change, he showed his siblings the greatest change possible when he left. He tried to tell his brother Dream, in both aspects, that change was possible even for him, but Dream could not accept change as readily as Destruction. For dreams are often more fixed, in their ways. Destruction said that nothing new can be created without destroying the old, perhaps Destruction was prophetic in this, because he told this to Dream just before he commited the act that sealed his fate, leaving only the technicality of someone to finally call the Kindly Ones.
